Foreigner in Egypt
16 x 16 inches, oil on panel in artist-built custom frame (18.5” x 18.5") $390 THIS painting is part of an ongoing series exploring our encounters with the holy in everyday life. This piece reflects on being an outsider.. Deuteronomy 10:17 “For the Lord your God is the God of gods and Lord of lords. He is the great God, the mighty and awesome God, who shows no partiality and cannot be bribed. 18 He ensures that orphans and widows receive justice. He shows love to the foreigners living among you and gives them food and clothing. 19 So you, too, must show love to foreigners, for you yourselves were once foreigners in the land of Egypt." |
Love in the Time of Corona #3

Love in the Time of Corona #4
8 x 10 inch oil on canvas $110 (SOLD) THE "Love in the Time of Cholera" series came about in April 2020, while our family, country, and world was in full "social distancing" mode. For a while the U.S. complied with the safer-at-home directions. My emotions were all over the place, especially after the killing of George Floyd. All of these deep feelings called to mind 'Love in the Time of Cholera' by Colombian author Gabriel García Márquez. The novel conveys the sense of deep loneliness and isolation in the unrequited lovers, the pain caused by ego, the anguish of dishonor, and finally their hope & forgiveness. These paintings are how I imagine the odd mix of anguish and hope might look.
